One is an import "mini album" from Metallica released by Sony/CBS Records in 1989 comprised of five songs. They include the studio versions of "One" and "Breadfan", live versions of "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", and the demo version of "One".

Packaging[]

The CD has a removable sleeve that shows all of Metallica's albums (at the time of release) on the back (Kill 'Em All through ...And Justice for All) in Japanese writing.

Along with the CD sleeve is a separate one page insert with lyrics to all of the songs printed in Japanese and English.

Personnel[]

Tracklist[]

  1. "One" 7:24
  2. "Breadfan" 5:44
  3. "For Whom The Bell Tolls" 4:48
  4. "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" 6:06
  5. "One" (demo) 7:03

Notes/trivia[]

  • The live tracks were recorded at the Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas on Metallica's February 5, 1989 show.
  • The "One" demo was recorded using only four tracks, which is why it has no bass. Guitarist Kirk Hammett had only heard the song the day before when he recorded the solo. Also, not only are several lines of the lyrics repeated, at one point during the recording vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield substituted any potential words with "la la la la" (!).
